Everything you need to know before your first visit.
If your question isn’t answered here, give us a call or send us a message.
No. Physiotherapists are primary healthcare practitioners in South Africa, so you can book directly with us. If your medical-aid scheme requires a GP referral for authorisation or claims, we recommend checking with them beforehand and obtaining the necessary authorisation.
Your initial consultation usually lasts one hour. We start with a detailed conversation about your medical history, current pain, daily routine and recovery goals. After a thorough physical assessment, we begin hands-on treatment and provide a personalised home movement plan. Depending on your injury you may need to undress part of the area being treated — we never uncover you inappropriately or without consent, and we have covers so you never feel exposed.
Please bring your own shorts and comfortable clothing to move in, as well as a bath towel. Bring any referral, X-rays or medical reports relevant to your condition, and a list of any medication you’re taking.
Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing that lets you move freely — activewear, shorts or a t-shirt. Depending on the area being treated (knee, shoulder or spine), we may need clear access to the joint and surrounding muscles. For women: please wear a normal bra rather than a sports bra.
No, we don’t claim from medical aid — but we charge medical-aid rates. You pay for your session after treatment and claim back from your medical aid using the invoice we provide. We recommend confirming your physiotherapy benefits with your provider before your visit.
We offer transparent private rates for initial evaluations and follow-up sessions. Payment can be made by card or EFT on the day of your appointment (if arranged with management), and we issue an official tax invoice so you can claim back from your medical aid if you prefer.
Every body and injury is unique, so there’s no single answer. After your initial assessment we’ll discuss a clear recovery roadmap. Minor acute issues may improve in 2–4 sessions, while chronic conditions or post-surgical rehab may require ongoing care over weeks or months.
Our goal is to alleviate pain, not cause it. Some manual techniques can feel slightly uncomfortable, especially in inflamed areas, but we always work within your comfort threshold and communicate throughout. Mild post-treatment soreness is normal; if you feel a lot of pain, contact your physiotherapist immediately. Dry needling may leave a small bruise or bump that fades within a few days.
Absolutely. Beyond muscle and joint injuries, we treat tension headaches, postural strain, neck and back stiffness, sinus congestion, bronchitis and chest infections, as well as post-surgical rehabilitation and chronic or acute pain. You don’t have to prove you have an injury — if you feel something needs treating, we’ll help.
Absolutely — being pregnant does not mean you can’t have treatment. Please just let your physiotherapist know if you are pregnant or have any concerns.
We’re happy to help — give us a call or send us a message.
